Hanuman Bahuk is a very powerful hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman, composed by the poet Goswami Tulsidas. He wrote this hymn to seek relief from his severe arm pain (arm ailment). That is why it is named “Bahuk,” which means a hymn related to the arm (bāhu).

“Jai Hanumant sant hitkaari,
Suni lijai prabhu araj hamaari.”
Victory to Lord Hanuman, the benefactor of saints;
Please listen to my humble request, O Lord.

“Jan ke kaaj bilamb na kijai,
Atudi Mahaprabhu jag deejai.”
Do not delay in helping your devotee’s work;
O Great Lord, please grant your quick divine support.

“Jaise koodi sindhu Hanumaana,
Jaai Ahiraavan maari nidaana.”
Just as you leapt across the ocean, Hanuman,
And destroyed the demon Ahiravan completely—

“Asur nikandan Raam dulaare,
Pavansut baar dibai dukh baare.”
O destroyer of demons, beloved of Lord Rama,
Son of the Wind God, please remove all my sorrows immediately.

“Prabhu bali paayi bhaye sab taari,
Ramkaaj lagi taapas bhaari.”
Receiving the strength of Lord Rama, you rescued everyone;
You undertook great tasks for the service of Rama.

“Lakhan moorchhit bhaye pukaari,
Aanayau sumiri parvat paari.”
When Lakshman fainted on the battlefield,
You remembered Rama and brought the mountain across the sky.

“Karaun kripaa ab chinh dikhaava,
Jehi tan dukh mohi bahu paava.”
Now show your grace with some sign, O Lord,
My body has suffered much pain.

“Baahu bikal bhaye dukh na jaataa,
Karaun kripaa puni sukh samudaataa.”
My arm is weak and the pain does not go away;
Bless me again, O giver of all happiness.

“Sankat mochan Raam dulaare,
Sunahu pukaar Hanumat hamaare.”
O remover of troubles, beloved of Rama,
Please listen to my call, O Hanuman.

“Aisi kripaa karahu prabhu daasi,
Jais jas milai mohi aaseesi.”
Please grant such grace, O Lord,
That I may receive blessings and relief.

Hanuman Bahuk

“Raam doot atulit baladhaamaa,
Baahu dukh bhay mithahu paranaamaa.”
O messenger of Rama, storehouse of endless strength,
Please destroy my arm-pain and all its fear.a

“Raam naam jas gaai bihaani,
Hoihi mohi sukh shaanti sayaani.”
By singing the glory of Rama’s name each morning,
May I receive peace, wisdom, and happiness.

“Sakal sumangal daayak daataa,
Baahu rog hari haripati taataa.”
O giver of all auspiciousness and blessings,
Please remove this disease of my arm, O Lord.

“Naasahu ab mohi dukh baari,
Jaise keenh lankapuri jwaari.”
Destroy my deep suffering now,
Just as you burned down the city of Lanka.

“Shankar suvan Kesarinandan,
Baahu peer harahu Bhagavan.”
O son of Lord Shiva and Kesari,
Remove the pain of my arm, O Divine One.

“Ram kinkar Tulsi praathee,
Sunahu vinay vinati paramaarthee.”
Your servant Tulsidas prays to you;
Please listen to this humble and sincere request.
